Bastion. A walled city, where few are allowed to trade, and fewer still allowed to enter.

There are many rumors concerning the nature of Bastion: that the city is not inhabited, but controlled by an automated system set up before the Great War, that it is inhabitited by mutants, that it was built by ghosts, but the accepted truth is that the inhabitants of Bastion are a reclusive sort with a bunch of pre-war tech and the firepower to protect it.

In actuality, any trader who has been to Bastion with speak candidly about it -- it's just like any other village in the Wastes: they trade foodstuffs for things they cannot produce onsite. The only unusual thing about them is they don't leave their city, and trade using a computer terminal and crane, and they seem to have a signifigant excess of fresh fruits, vegitables, and grains.

Despite Bastion being an intimidating city to view, that has not stopped the brave or the insane from assailing its walls. Any hostile force has been dealt with an array automated turrets and robot sentinels, and occassionally humans have come out in defense of Bastion's walls. There is no stories of people sneaking successfully into Bastion -- the city has no way in either than the main gate, and any direct assault on that has met with failure. The only other way in would be by crane, and the few who were able to get in that way were thrown back over the wall without the courtesy of being able to use the crane.
