Brahmin Wood, like many of the tribal villages in Illinois, became independent from the Brotherhood of Steel in the wake of the Brotherhood-Legion conflict. Unlike other villages, Brahmin Wood was able to establish themselves as a truly independent village due to two factors: their location was unusually resource rich, and many tribesmen drafted by the Brotherhood deserted and returned after the Brotherhood-Legion conflict.

Able to resist raiders and provide some semblemce of an economy, Brahmin Wood now serves as a trading hub for those brave or foolish enough to come near the Chicago area.
